  • What is IVRL?

    The International Virtual Reality League was formed in 2021 by a group of veteran league players that wanted to provide the highest level of competition and create an environment for players to enjoy the games they love. The primary drive of the org is to focus on the community, integerity, and transparency as much as possible. These core principles drive the decisions of the league and help to draw its players into the IVRL family.
  • What are the IVRL Leagues?

    Onward was the premier league in 2021 and will continue to be a big focus for IVRL. Vail VR, another VR shooter, was hosted by IVRL for its beta launch tournament with IVRL managing the details. More games may be added over time as the needs arise, but growth will be steady to maintain top quality in the established leagues.

  • What is Onward?

    Onward is a competitive VR shooter focused around teamwork, coordination, and embodies a mil-sim style of play. Uplink, a search and destroy type game mode, puts to teams against each other that alternate attacking and defending objectives.
  • How do I access Onward?

    Onward can be found on the Quest app store, Oculus PC, and Steam VR stores. The game is cross play so you can play on any version with any of your friends and teammates.
  • How do I join league?

    Use this IVRL - Onward Discord server to connect to teams. Check out channels ⁠looking-for-players and ⁠looking-for-teams if you are in search of a team to join.
  • What is the current ruleset for competitive play?

    Rules can be located on the IVRL website at https://www.ivrl.gg/onward/info/rules.
  • How often will seasons be held?

    IVRL - Onward doesn't run fixed seasons per se, but operates on a continuous bi-weekly matchup schedule and is focused on hosting premier events, tournaments and Championship Title bouts throughout the year.
  • How will this work?

    The standard match generation cycle will be every 2 weeks on mondays. With each cycle teams will also be allotted 2 additional challenge matches they may elect to play. Throughout the year Major events and tournaments will be held. foremost among these events are World Championship candidates tournaments that determine who gets to challenge the reigning World Champion.
  • Do different regions play each other?

    IVRL bi-weekly generated matchups will only be generated within region. However challenge matches are open to cross region play and highly encouraged
  • How do challenges work?

    Challenges are elective matches between two teams. The teams must be close in SRS and can only play two challenges each cycle. Challenges are also played under its own unique “match play” format as outlined in the rules. Go to the IVRL website to enter into a challenge during the season.
  • What is the Championship title format?

    Championship title cycles consist of a candidates tournament consisting of the top 8 challengers participating in a single elimination bracket. The winner of which then plays the current Champion for the title or in the case of a vacant title assumes it.
  • What is the standard match format for IVRL Onward?

    Teams play 2 main maps, best of 9, with each team picking one map (or side). At the end of the two maps, if total points won are tied, a 3rd map tie breaker will be played, best of 5.
  • What is the challenge match format for IVRL Onward?

    Teams play best of 7 maps with one OBJ per map. First to win most maps wins. In case of a tie 2 additional maps will be played first to win a map wins. If still tied after the 2 maps the match is officially declared a tie.
  • What maps can be played during the match?

    Standard DPI maps and selected custom maps are selected for the map pools. Refer to current rules for eligible maps.
